US DATA: Initial unemployment claims data were well below estimates in 
the Feb 3 wk, -9k to 221k vs 232k expected. 
- The 4-wk moving avg -10,000 to 224,500, a fourth straight decline and 
the lowest level since March 1973. However, the index could rebound next 
week as the 216k level in Jan 13 week rolls out. 
- Unadjusted claims fell 27,130 to 240,636 in the current wk, a larger 
decrease than seasonal factors had expected and below the year ago level 
of 259,713.
- Claims were estimated again in Maine and still disrupted in Puerto 
Rico and the Virgin Islands.
- Continuing claims -33k to 1.923m in the Jan 27 wk.
