US DATA: Initial unemployment claims were below expectations in the 
Feb 16 employment survey wk, -23k to 216k vs 229k expected returning to 
below trend levels and up only 4k from the Jan 12 survey wk. 
- The 4-wk moving avg +4,000 to 235,750 in the Feb 16 wk. The avg would 
fall sharply next week if there is no change from this week's headline 
figure as the 253k peak level in Jan 26 week rolls out.
- Continuing claims -55k to 1.725m in the Feb 9 wk, while the 4-wk 
avg +2,750 to 1.755m.
- Claims were estimated for California, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and 
Virginia, likely due to the shorter reporting period.
