Iran and Russia to Deepen Energy Ties to Combat Sanctions

Russia and Iran will deepen their energy ties to combat US sanctions according to diplomat meetings between the countries this week.

  • "These issues require taking strategic measures on deepening of relations [between Russia and Iran] in all areas, with cooperation and greater coordination, especially between the leaders and officials of the two states," Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said.
  • According to the Iranian official, during the meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission, the sides discussed investments to the oil and gas industry, including to swap gas supplies, as well as the implementation of the International North-South Transport Corridor project.
