Iran's Oil Exports Highest Since US Sanctions Reimposed

Iran's oil exports have reached their highest level since US sanctions were put in place in 2018, according to the country's Oil Minister Javad Owji on Sunday.

  • 83 million more oil barrels in the current year starting 21st March 2022 were exported compared to the previous Iranian year running March 2021-202 he said.
  • This means 190 million more barrels than two years prior according to Owji. He added that gas exports increased by 15% in 2022-23 compared to the previous Iranian year.
  • Chinese demand for Iranian barrels has increased in recent months as it targets discounted barrels to fuel its economy reopening.
