Iraq Awaits Answer from Turkey to Resume Flows: Iraqi Oil Minister

Iraq is waiting on a final answer from Turkey to resume its northern oil exports through the port of Ceyhan according to Iraqi oil minister Hayan Abdel-Ghani.

  • He said Turkey told his government it was evaluating whether the pipeline was damaged as a result of the devastating February earthquake and a technical team had been evaluating the situation.
  • Other Iraqi officials have said they do not expect any resumption in flows until the Turkish elections are over. Standing President Recap Tayyip Erdoğan looks set to maintain his power after this weekend’s election.
