Iraq Wants OPEC Production Review: INA
Iraq is demanding a review of its allocated OPEC quota, and is sticking to deals with Russia and China, according to INA reports.
- Iraq wants a review of its production quota allocated by OPEC, according to state news agency INA citing Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani.
- Iraq’s oil minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani has shown no signs of reversing the ‘oil-for-projects’ agreement that was signed between Iraq and China in the middle of 2019, when on a phone call with US State Secretary Antony Blinken this week.
- Iraq’s Oil Exploration Company (OEC) and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) had begun multiple seismic surveys as part of the first phase of wide-ranging offshore oil and gas exploration between Iraq and China.
