The ISM Services PMI (former non-mfg index) edged lower in Aug after three consecutive increases. Aug's deterioration was driven by a sharp drop in New Orders, down 10.9pt, followed by Business Activity falling 4.8pt. On the other hand, Supplier Deliveries rose 5.3pt following three months of decline. Employment ticked up 5.8pt, however the index remains below the 50-mark since March. Among all sub-indicators, Inventories slipped 6.2pt to 45.8, while Prices gained 6.6pt to 64.2 showing the highest level since Nov 2018. Exports increased 6.5pt to 55.8 and imports edged up 4.5pt to 50.8 - both indicators shifted back to expansion territory. The Backlog of work revealed the third increase in a row, rising 0.7pt to 56.6 in Aug.
