Israeli Leadership To Foreign Min. Raab: Join In Sanctions On Iran

On the first day of a trip to Israel, UK Foreign Minister Dominic Raab has been told in no uncertain terms that Israel is disappointed the UK has not joined in the support for extending the arms embargo on Iran as proposed by the US at the UN.

  • First in a meeting in Jerusalem with Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, who said ""We were disappointed to see the vote of E3 states [the UK, Germany and France] in the extension of the arms embargo on Iran in the Security Council."
  • Then in a meeting with Defence Minister and alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz, who said ""A way must be found to reinstate the arms embargo against Iran."
  • And finally from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who stated, "I expect Britain to change its policy towards Iran, it must join US sanctions to prevent Iran from acquiring lethal weapons."
