BOND SUMMARY
BOND SUMMARY: It has been a very quiet start to the week today with gilts
underperforming Bunds which underperform Treasuries. Most of the gilt
underperformance is catching up with moves seen in other markets on Friday on
the back of the US employment report.
- The main story in the UK is the reaction to Prime Minister Boris Johnson's
speech last night. Those who can't work from home are being encouraged back to
work while limits on outside exercise are being lowered. Primary schools may
start to reopen in a phased manner from 1 June with some of the hospitality
industry opening from July. More details are expected today in the form of a
50-page guidance document and debate in parliament while First Secretary Raab is
due to give guidance to employers at 14:00BST today.
- There is little on the schedule for the rest of the day with the ECB's Mersch
and Fed's Bostic both due to speak.
- TY1 futures are down -0-1+ today at 138-29 with Bund futures down -0.20 at
173.57 and Gilt futures down -0.22 at 137.47.
