Italy’s Edison Reschedules Qatari LNG Imports Until End-April

Italy’s Edison has rescheduled Qatari LNG arrivals through end of April, given the longer journey time around the Cape of Good Hope, Chief Executive Nicola Monti said on Tuesday, cited by Reuters.

  • "All deliveries for February, March and April are confirmed and have been rescheduled according to the new route cargoes have to follow due to ... poor security ... in the Red Sea," Monti told Reuters.
  • "So far ... we have only had one cancellation, which has already been made up over the past month".
  • Italy’s Edison said it was informed by Qatar that a cargo scheduled for 31 Jan to 5 Feb arrival at the Adriatic terminal will not be delivered according to a message posted on Gestore Mercati Energetici.
  • The Edison chief said he hopes trade flows would normalise after April.
  • No LNG tanker has transited the Suez Canal since 17 January, ship-tracking data showed.
