BOND SUMMARY
BOND SUMMARY: It's been an uneventful session in core bond markets today with
Bunds moving a little higher but little movement in Treasuries or gilts.
- It is a pretty light week for data this week. On Thursday we will receive UK
GDP for August and US CPI while in the Eurozone we have some national industrial
production and trade prints due.
- In a light data week there may be focus on political events once again. The UK
parliament is only due to sit today and tomorrow before being prorogued ahead of
the Queen's Speech which is scheduled for next Monday. Around midday London time
today we will receive the Scottish court decision on whether Prime Minister
Boris Johnson would be undertaking criminal activity if he did not personally
sign and send a letter asking for a Brexit extension to the EU if no deal has
been agreed by the 19th (i.e. to comply with the Benn act). This will have less
impact than the ruling on proroguing parliament. US-China trade talks continue
to rumble on in the background with senior talks beginning on Thursday.
- TY1 futures are down -0-2 today at 131-27 with Bund futures up 0.19 at 174.68
and Gilt futures down -0.01 at 134.89.
