Japan August Ind. Output +2.7% M/M; METI Upgrade Keynote

  • Japan's industrial production marked a third monthly rise by 8.9% m/m in August, led by machinery industry, due to the increasing demands from domestic and overseas.
  • Shipments marked rose 1.9% m/m from last month, automobile industry made the most contribution to the increase among 15 industries. The increase was due the easing supply shortage of the materials.
  • Inventories rose for the third month by 1.4% m/m,.
  • METI upgrades its assessment to "production recovering moderately" from the previous "production goes up and down" and sees production rising 2.9% (revised up from 0.8%) in September before rising 3.2% in October.
