Japan Jun Core CPI +2.6% Y/Y; Energy Price Up

- Japan's national average core consumer price index (excluding fresh food) rose 2.6% from the year earlier in June, picking up from the growth of 2.5% marked in May.
- Energy rose 7.7% y/y, up from the previous 7.2% y/y growth.
- The underlying inflation rate measured by the core-core CPI (excluding fresh food and energy) increased 2.2% y/y, quicker than the 2.1% growth last month.
- Prices for ex-perishables rose 2.8% y/y, lower than the 3.2% y/y increase in May.
- Prices for household spending rose 3.9% y/y, up from the 1.9% y/y growth reported last month, and prices for accommodation increase 19.9% y/y, up from the previous 14.7% rise.
