Japan LNG Imports from Russia Down 53.6% in July

Japan’s LNG imports from Russia fell 53.6% in July 2023 compared to the same month in 2022, according to figures released by the Japanese finance ministry.

  • Russia’s LNG now comprises only around 5% of the total volume of LNG imports declined to around 5%, according to TASS’ calculations.
  • The G7 a price ceiling on Russian oil excludes supplies from Sakhalin-2 linked to LNG imports within the project.
  • Meanwhile LNG storage at major Japanese power companies rose last week, but is still below the five-year average, according to ICIS.
