Japan Feb Machine Orders -9.8% M/M

  • Japan's core machinery orders, excluding those for power generation equipment and ships, dropped 9.8% m/m in February, dip further from the previous 2.0% m/m fall.
  • Orders from non-manufacturing sectors plunged 14.4% m/m, expanding from last 1.9% m/m drop.
  • Orders from the manufacturing sector, edged down 1.8% m/m, narrowing from the 4.8% m/m gain in January.
  • The outlook for the January-March period is for a fall of 0.5%, compared with the 5.1% increase over the previous quarter.
  • Japan Cabinet Office lowered its assessment on machinery orders saying they are "marking time".
