Japan Apr Machine Orders +10.8% M/M; 2nd Monthly Rise

  • Japan's core machinery orders, excluding those for power generation equipment and ships, rose 10.8% m/m in April, accelerating from the previous 7.1% m/m growth.
  • Orders from non-manufacturing sectors rose 8.9% m/m, shrinking from last 11.0% m/m increase.
  • Orders from the manufacturing sector, increased 10.3% m/m, up from the 7.1% m/m gain in March.
  • The outlook for the April-June period is for a fall of 8.1%, compared with the 3.6% decrease over the previous quarter.
