Japan Set to Import First Crude Shipment Since May

  • President Vladimir Putin is to implement a ban on the sale of Russian oil to foreign buyers that adhere to the price cap. Restrictions on crude exports will begin on Feb. 1 and last at least until July, while the start date for curbs on oil products will come later. Still, the guidelines avoid extreme measures such as designating a minimum price for Russian crude or bans on specific countries.
  • Japan is set to import its first crude oil shipment from Russia in more than half a year, as the government pushes energy importers to stockpile fuel in a bid to avoid future shortages.
