STOCKS: Japanese metrics shook off the headwinds posed by Nomura's weak
quarterly earnings report & questions over the BOJ's MonPol to advance, led by
consumer staples.
- The Hang Seng & CSI 300 operated around neutral levels after opening lower,
with the Hang Seng's rebound aided by consumer staples, while the consumer
discretionary sector was the notable underperformer.
- Australia's ASX 200 outperformed, adding 0.7% as the IT & energy sectors led
the charge, with consumer staples the only major sector in the red.
- U.S. index futures edged higher, aided by a strong EPS print from Amazon.
