LNG stockpiles held by Japanese utilities rose 1.9% w/w to 2.14m tons in the week to June 16 from 2.1m tons the previous week, according to data released by the trade ministry.

  • Volumes were above the previous five-year average of 2.01m tons for the end of June and above the 2.08m mt a year earlier.
  • Demand for LNG is likely to be supported by ongoing hot weather across Asia, likely to boost power demand.
