Japan’s LNG Stockpiles Fell But Remained Above 5-Year Average

LNG stockpiles held by Japanese power generators decreased by 5.91% to 2.23 million tons on 25 June from a week earlier, according to data released by the trade ministry.

  • This was down from 2.37 million tons on 18 June but above the five-year average of 1.95 million tons for the end of June.
  • Northeast Asian buyers are nominated to take minimum cargo volumes amid muted demand according to Bloomberg sources. The weak demand could result in extra supply and more spot tenders this summer.

  • JKM-TTF Jul 23 up 0.6$/mmbtu at 1.18$/mmbtu
