US VIEW: Jefferies economist Ward McCarthy noted November new homes "spurted
17.5% to a 733K unit selling rate," which was "much stronger than expectations,
and the highest since July 2007," he sad. "October sales were revised to down to
a 624K unit selling rate from the initially released 685K selling rate."
- "The November consensus call was for a 655K selling rate," he added.
- "After averaging 561K in 2016, the new home selling rate spiked in early 2017
but was very choppy as the year progressed. After, rising to a then- cyclical
high of 638K in March of this year, sales plunged to a 559K rate before again
rebounding in a dramatic fashion since August," he said.
