JGBS: JGB futures meandered in a tight range in the overnight session, losing 4
ticks, perhaps limited by the RTRS report which hit late in the Tokyo day
suggesting that "Japanese policymakers are considering a 50-year government bond
issue as a long-term means of putting a floor under super-long interest rates.
Importantly, the report noted that "there are no immediate plans to issue such
bonds in Japan, but the Ministry of Finance has long considered the idea,
holding hearings with market participants three years ago, a finance ministry
official told Reuters."
- 20-Year supply headlines the local docket today, with monthly trade balance
data also due.
