JGBS
JGBS: JGB's finished higher yesterday in a quiet session with thin volumes. The
BoJ conducted purchases in the 1-5 and 10+ year zones. The purchases were kept
the same amid some speculation that they could be dropped in the short end,
bid/cover dropped and spreads were wider in all maturities which has stoked
speculation that a decrease could be on the horizon.
- The afternoon session saw buying in futures and the long term sector in cash
as equities dropped, the move was assisted by a drop in USD/JPY after Trump
comments.
- JGB Opening Call Barclays: "Today could see buyers continue to take a slight
upper hand overall given the heavy buying in USTs overnight. A liquidity
enhancement auction for 5-15.5y issues is scheduled for today."
