US DATA REACT: JPM economist Daniel Silver noted the "headline composite for the
Markit manufacturing PM, derived from the measures of orders, output,
employment, supplier delivery times, and stocks of purchases, was revised up
from 55.0 to 55.1 between the flash and final December reports, and now shows a
1.2-pt improvement over the final November reading."
- He adds that "although the revision was small in today's report, it was enough
to make the headline figure the highest reported since March 2015, eclipsing the
55.0 reported for January 2017. And the December survey data generally look
solid across the board so far, despite mixed changes in some of the regional
measures relative to November."
- "The ISM manufacturing survey is typically released on the same day as the
final PMI data for each month, but the December ISM data will be reported
tomorrow," he said.
