US: JPM economist Michael Feroli had this to say on Fed Chair Candidate Jerome
Powell, who Politico said that Trump was leaning toward, citing 3 admin sources,
as front-runner for the Fed Chair post. "The non-Yellen candidate who would
offer the most continuity with respect to monetary policy, Powell has served as
a Fed Governor since 2012," he said. 
- "Powell is a Republican who previously served in the George H.W. Bush
administration and was appointed by President Obama as part of a bipartisan
deal. In his time as Governor, he has often functioned as one of the Board's
point persons on a number of supervisory and regulatory matters. In the past,
Powell's monetary policy views had been judged as somewhat hawkish relative to
Yellen. More recently, it is hard to distinguish Powell's comments on monetary
policy from those of Yellen or other members of the Fed leadership."
