June Swiss-Germany CPC Auction Price Flips

The latest Jao monthly June CBC auction between Switzerland and Germany allocated all of the offered capacity, while pricing flipped on the month according to Jao.

  • In the Switzerland-Germany, all 710MW of offered capacity was allocated at €7.19/MWh, up from 390MWMW going at €3.21/MWh in May. Requested capacity for June delivery in the direction was at 7.8GW.
  • In the Germany-Switzerland direction, all 200MW of offered capacity was allocated at €3.03/MWh, compared with 200MW allocated at €5.01/MWh for May delivery. Requested capacity for June delivery in this direction was at 3.34GW.
  • The German front-month power base-load contract is currently holding a €7.50/MWh premium to the Swiss equivalent as of 20 May, when the Swiss contract last traded.
  • Switzerland so far this month – 1 to 20 May – was a power net exporter to Germany at 1.575GW, up from 995MW for all of April and up from 317MW in the same period in May last year.
