Kari Lake Enters Crucial Arizona Senate Race

US

Arizona Republican Kari Lake, a high-profile supporter of former President Trump who lost a bid to become Arizona governor last year, has formally announced her intention to run for the Senate. She will face Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb in the Republican primary.

  • Trump said in a video message: “When I’m back in the White House, I need strong fighters like Kari in the Senate.”
  • The Arizona Senate race, which will likely be critical to determining control of the Senate, is shaping up as an unpredictable three-way race between incumbent former Democrat Senator Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) and probable Democrat candidate Rep Ruben Gallego (D-AZ).
  • Gallego said yesterday: “Arizonans know exactly who Kari Lake is — and that’s why they rejected her the first time around.”
  • The Hill reports: “A poll from left-leaning firm Public Policy Polling out on Tuesday… found Gallego at 41 percent, Lake at 36 percent and Sinema at 15 percent in a hypothetical matchup.”
  • The Hill continues: “But a separate poll from Republican firm National Research Inc showed Lake leading Gallego 37 percent to 33 percent, while Sinema sat at 19 percent.”
