Kashkari Less Optimistic Than Bond Market On Inflation, Hopeful Of Calm In Banking Sector

FED

Minneapolis Fed President Kashkari (’23 voter) notes that he is hopeful that some sense of calm is being restored in the banking sector, although he is not ready to declare the “all clear” on that front.

  • Elsewhere, he went on to stress that the central bank’s 2% inflation target should not be changed (echoing the view of various other policymakers), while pointing to a less optimistic view than the bond market on the inflation front (Kashkari looks for inflation in the mid 3s at the end of ’23, before a move closer to 2% in ’24).
