Kremlin-Prospect Of 5-10 Years More Under Sanctions Doesn't Frighten Us

RUSSIA

Wires carrying comments from Kremlin spox Dmitri Peskov. States that "Russia has lived a long time under sanctions, [the] prospect of 5-10 years more doesn't frighten us." The comments come as the EU is said to be looking at the imposition of a 12th round of sanctions on Moscow as the 26-27 EUCO summit approaches. Bloomberg reports the package "...could include a ban on Russian diamonds, a further crack down on Moscow’s ability to get around sanctions and listing companies in third countries that are helping Moscow to do so."

  • On Ukraine, claims that the "Western potential to produce ammunition for Ukraine is limited." On WaPo story claiming that Western security services have 'deep ties' to Ukrainian spies, Peskov states that, "we've known for a long time" that Ukrainian special services are closely supervised by US and UK.
  • On President Vladimir Putin, states that "Putin is fine, reports of ill-health are fake," and that talk of Putin body doubles is "absurd." Comes after an unsourced report on social media network Telegram, which was picked up by some Western outlets, claiming that Putin had suffered a cardiac arrest.
