Kurdish Oil Exports Not Restarting Anytime Soon: PUK Leader

The leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan told Argus Media a restart of northern Iraq crude oil exports via the Turkish port of Ceyhan will not happen anytime soon, Argus reporter Bachar El-Halabi said via X.

  • “Talks [on oil export restart] between Baghdad and Erbil are very sensitive and any word could jeopardize them,” PUK leader Bafel Talabani said.
  • Exports from the Kurdistan region via a pipeline to Turkey remain halted since end of March 2023.
  • Some producers in the region, such as DNO, have recovered oil output close to near pipeline closure levels and are instead selling oil domestically at a discount, the firm said.
