Kuwait Expected to Contribute to Medium Sour Tightness: Kpler

OIL

Kuwait will contribute to lower medium sour crude availability into the second half of the year according to Kpler.

  • Kuwait's crude exports may soon decrease due to higher domestic refining capacity, impacting medium sour crude supply to Asia.
  • The ramp-up of Kuwait's Al-Zour refinery has curbed crude exports recently, with the plant expected to reach nameplate capacity in December.
  • Kuwaiti crude exports may be pressured to around 1.2mn bpd at the end of the year according to Kpler forecasts, significantly lower than the 2022 average.
  • China, India, South Korea and Japan are key crude buyers for Kuwaiti crude.
