Kuwait's Al Zour Set to Ramp Up Third CDU in Q3

Asia is set to benefit from higher exports from Kuwait’s Al Zour refinery which started its third and final CDU this week according to the official KIPIC twitter account Thursday.

  • The full impact of Al Zour opening the third CDU is not expected to be felt until the coming months as it ramps up production.
  • With Al Zour operational with its other two CDU’s, Kuwait’s exports of refined products, including fuel oil, diesel, jet fuel and naphtha, hit a monthly record high of 2.8 million metric tons in June, data from Kpler showed.
  • Mots of the VLSFO exports were headed to major bunkering hubs like Singapore and UAE’s Fujairah.
  • For jet fuel, Al Zour’s exports have averaged 50,000 tons to 200,000 tons per month since the start up of the first CDU at the end of 2022. Most of the jet headed to northwest Europe.
  • Gasoil exports from the refinery have mostly headed to Europe and Africa.
