Lack Of Clarity About Gas Supply To Europe

  • The Yamal gas pipeline which provides one-sixth of Russia’s gas supplies into Europe and Turkey is halted again after reports this morning of resumption of supply.
  • The pipeline has been flowing west to east since December and contributing to the European gas shortage. Gazprom announced this week that supply to Europe would be resumed and German gas suppliers confirmed that Yamal was again showing east to west flows.
  • This does not appear to be the case and gas prices have risen again today in response.
