- Stocks are back to making modest gains in late trade, off a knee-jerk high follow some late by programs tempered by some geopolitical risk headlines. Dow continues to outperform as UnitedHealth shares rallied over 6% after 1Q revenue of $75.36B beat expectations. Speaking of earnings - JB Hunt, United Airlines and Interactive Brokers are expected to announce after today's close.
- Currently, DJIA is up 161.36 points (0.43%) at 37896.95, S&P E-Minis up 4.5 points (0.09%) at 5109, Nasdaq up 27.1 points (0.2%) at 15913.81.
Leading Gainers: Information Technology and Health Care sector shares outperformed in late trade, chip stocks buoyed the former: Advanced Micro Devices +2.26%, Nvidia +2.24%, Applied Materials +2.06%. Equipment and services shares buoyed the Health Care sector with UniteHealth +5.33%, Cencora +2.15%, Elevance +1.74%. - Laggers: Utilities and Real Estate sector shares continued to underperform in late trade. Water and multi-energy providers weighed on Utilities with Dominion Energy -1.9%, DTE Energy -1.79%, American Water Works -1.75%. Meanwhile, estate management and services weighed on the former: CBRE Group -1.84%, CoStar Group -1.63%.
