The latest round of opinion polls released Monday showed that the ruling Liberal Democratic Party maintains a comfortable lead over its rivals ahead of the October 31 general election.

  • In a joint Sankei/FNN poll 45.3% of respondents said they support the LDP, up from 43.5% in the September poll. The main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party was backed by just 6.4% of respondents.
  • Worth noting that in their discussion of breakdown figures, Sankei highlighted a decline in supporters of the Kishida Cabinet who intend to vote for the LDP in the upcoming election.
  • NHK circulated a poll in which 41.2% of respondents said they support the LDP, up from 37.6% in the previous poll, while 6.1% preferred the CDP.
  • In a JNN survey, 41.5% of respondents chose the LDP as their party of preference, up from 38% recorded in the previous poll. Just 5.7% said they support the CDP.
