Liberal Lee Ahead Of Conservative Yoon With 37% Of Vote Counted

SOUTH KOREA

Liberal DPK candidate Lee Jae-myung is defying the presidential election exit polls at present, leading conservative PPP nominee Yoon Suk-yeol by 48.9% of the vote to 47.8% with 37.2% of ballots counted.

  • Exit polls had given Yoon a lead of under 1%, meaning either outcome was a distinct possibility.
  • John Lee at The Korean Foreigner outlet tweets: "With final votes tallied going up faster than Yoon's vote count, Yoon should start to feel really nervous now."
