Libya's NOC Announced Three-Week Gas Maintenance From 1 May

NATURAL GAS

Libya's NOC announced the start of three-week maintenance starting on 1 May with Italy's Eni at their western gas facilities. The maintenance is expected to see a major reduction in the country's production and exports.

  • Eni's north Africa subsidiary said last month that gas deliveries to Italy will be "materially reduced and could potentially go to zero" over 29 April-25 May due to planned maintenance.
  • Libya's exports to Italy have fallen in recent years due to rising domestic consumption and falling production. Supplies through the Greenstream pipeline were the lowest level since the 2011 last year at 250mn ft³/d but have since recovered to 271mn ft³/d in the first four months of this year.
  • Libya produced just under 1.4bn ft³/d of gas last year and was at 1.115bn ft³ on 28 April according to official NOC and Italian import data.
