LNG

Algeria’s LNG exports have seen a sudden increase as local pipeline maintenance freed up supply for FOB cargoes, Platts said.

  • Algeria has exported 0.7m mt of LNG, or 13 cargoes, in September so far, already the highest monthly total since May. However, this compares to 0.8m mt over the same period in 2023.
  • Traders expect a further uptick in Algerian exports to account for reduced pipeline flows, while some cargoes may be lifted in October.
  • Prompt FOB selling price loading Algeria was seen around TTF minus 60 cents/MMBtu.
  • Algeria has a geographic advantage when selling into the Med. Delivery from Port Arzew to Barcelona takes around 2 days, compared to a 14-day journey from Freeport, Texas.
  • The drop in Algerian flows has pushed Spanish PVB to a substantial premium over TTF.
