OIL: LNG at Sea at Least 20 Days Dips 1.7% Last Week

LNG volumes at sea decreased 1.7% in the last week following the rebound the previous week from a low on Jan. 12, according to Bloomberg.

  • The quantity of LNG on tankers that have not unloaded for at least 20 days edged down to 3.18m tons as of Jan. 26 after falling to a low of 2.68m tons earlier this month.
  • Volumes are at the top of the previous five year range and 3% more than a year ago.  The five year average for the time of year is around 2.11m tons.
  • Of the 7 US cargoes on water between 20 and 30 days, two are in Europe, one in Egypt and four are in or heading to Asia.
  • The estimated volume of LNG on tankers that have not unloaded for at least 30 days has also risen to 1.51m tons compared from 1.46m tons a week ago.
