LNG At Sea Near Seasonal High Despite Dip Lower on the Week

LNG

LNG volumes on tankers at sea has dipped over the last week by 6.9% to 3.19m tons but remains at the top of the five year historical range according to Bloomberg data.

  • Volumes at sea have increased since March amid strong LNG exports combined with low demand and high inventories in Europe and Asia. Weekly global LNG exports rose marginally by 2% from the previous week as summer maintenance continues.
  • Global LNG imports fell in the week with a 0.4m tons decline into Japan following a stronger post-holiday rebound the previous week. Imports to India dipped by 0.3m tons while European flows fell by 0.2m tons.
  • Europe LNG supplies however still remain strong with imports replacing Norwegian flows during the field maintenance period despite low demand.
