LNG: FERC Support Venture Global Commissioning Claims on Calcasieu Pass
LNG
A finding by U.S. regulator Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday gives support to Venture Global LNG claims that commissioning of Calcasieu Pass in Louisiana is not fully completed, according to Reuters.
- FERC said the exporter has taken adequate steps to correct equipment that have restricted long term LNG contract cargo deliveries for two years.
- Customers including Shell, BP and Orlen say Venture Global has profited while improperly withholding LNG cargoes claiming a lack of full functionality.
- "Venture Global team was approaching the diagnosis and remediation of the equipment performance in a careful, technically sound matter," FERC said.
- Venture Global is to become the U.S. second-largest LNG after start up of its second facility of Plaquemines LNG in Louisiana, with the third of CP2 also planned close to its first terminal Calcasieu Pass.
