LNG Storage at Major Japanese Power Utilities Increases on the Week

LNG

LNG storage at major Japanese power companies were up last week but still just below five-year average according to ICIS.

  • ICIS expect storage builds this year to be more in line with gains seen in 2021 rather than the strong increase seen this time last year.
  • The second half of August last year saw a gain from 2.4m tonnes on 14 Aug 2022 up to 2.75m tonnes by 31 Aug 2022.
  • H2 August now looks very hot, but Japanese consumers are saving on energy and nuclear is strong.
