LNG: Ukraine's D.Trading Hopes for First LNG from Venture in December

LNG

D.Trading, the commercial arm of Ukraine power producer DTEK, hopes to agree to receive its first LNG cargo from Venture Global expected to arrive in December, according to Montel.

  • “We consider these volumes as a part of the energy security for the whole [European] region, including Ukraine of course,” Ivan Geliukh, CEO of D.Trading said.
  • In June, Venture Global signed a non-binding agreement to supply up to 2mtpa of LNG to D.Trading for 20 years from its Plaquemines and CP2 export projects in the US.
  • Only one cargo delivery is expected this year, but “more significant volumes” were expected in 2025, Geliukh said.
  • The European port and ultimate fuel destination are not yet known.
  • Long-term supply agreements provided D.Trading with “more predictability” and the company seeks further long-term supply deals despite a likely fall in EU demand during the period of the 20-year supply agreement.
  • The LNG tanker Qogir has been waiting at the new US Plaquemines liquefaction plant since Aug. 23, according to ICIS. The vessel is thought to be delivering cool down volumes to prepare for start-up.
