Low Vaccine Trust Cause For Concern In France, US

GLOBAL POLITICAL RISK

Latest global polling from YouGov on willingness to be vaccinated for COVID-19 continues to make difficult reading for a number of developed markets.

  • % of people in each place who said they would be willing to take the vaccine or have already done so: United Kingdom: 86%, Vietnam: 85%, UAE: 82%, Malaysia: 81%, Denmark: 80%, Spain: 76%, Italy: 75%, Norway: 74%, Finland: 73%, Sweden: 73%, India: 71%, Singapore: 70%, Indonesia: 69%, Germany: 68%, Saudi Arabia: 62%, Thailand: 60%, United States: 59%, Philippines: 50%, France: 49%, Taiwan: 41%, Hong Kong: 35%. Fieldwork: 15-25 March.
  • Should the low levels of trust in the vaccine in nations such as the United States and France portrayed in the opinion poll be reflected in the uptake of the jab it will limit these nations' ability to reopen their society and economies to their pre-pandemic state, with further waves of infection likely due to mutated variants combined with too-low vaccine uptake.
