Low Water Levels Limit Upper Rhine Fuel Deliveries

Barges moving fuels to the Upper Rhine can currently carry around 1,800 tons, compared to normally 2,500 tons amid low Rhine River levels according to Riverlake.

  • Broker expects capacity on Upper Rhine barges to rise slightly early next week, falling back to around the 1,800-ton level by next weekend.
  • The measured water-level at Kaub, a key chokepoint, stood at 1.43 meters a week ago, government data show.
