Lower In Early Friday Dealing, China Asks Iran Help To Curb Houthi Attacks

Oil benchmarks have drifted lower through the early parts of Friday trade. Brent is back to $82.20/bbl, around 0.30% off Thursday closing levels. WTI was last near $77/bbl. Both benchmarks are up from session lows.

  • Headlines crossed a little while ago from RTRS that China has asked Iran to help curb Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping.
  • RTRS note - "Basically, China says: 'If our interests are harmed in any way, it will impact our business with Tehran. So tell the Houthis to show restraint'," said one Iranian official briefed on the talks, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity."
