LPF, Governance, Fisheries Dominate Ninth EU-UK FTA Negotiating Round

EU

Below is the EU's graphic table outlining the schedule for the ninth round of negotiations between the EU and the UK over a free trade agreement taking place in Brussels this week.

  • The talks start on Tuesday and finish on Thursday, with a meeting of chief negotiators to close the talks on Friday, after which the customary press conference from EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier is likely to take place.
  • Today UK Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove travels to Brussels for talks with European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic on the implementation of any eventual deal once the transition period ends on December 31.
  • Talks this week dominated by 'level playing field' and horizontal governance talks (both of which will be discussed on all three days of the negotiations) and fisheries. These three issues have previously been highlighted as the major sticking points in talks so far.
