Macron To Meet Scholz In Berlin Following 'Europe Day' Speech In Strasbourg

French President Emmanuel Macron will meet with his German counterpart Chancellor Olaf Scholz this evening in Berlin following a significant speech at the European parliament in Strasbourg.

  • Macron's speech is due to take place at noon at the closing session of the Conference on the Future of Europe in Strasbourg. A 'year-long journey of gathering and debating with citizens their ideas on how the EU should handle its challenges and opportunities.'

  • Macron will then fly to Berlin for an evening meeting with Olaf Scholz scheduled to begin at 18:00 CET, according to the diary of the French president.
  • Defence, energy, European sovereignty, EU policy toward China, and security in the Sahel are expected to be on the agenda in Berlin.
