Major Blow To PM Johnson As Policy Chief Quits Over Saville Slur

UK

The Spectator is reporting that Munira Mirza has quit as 10 Downing Street's head of policy following the accusation leveller by Prime Minister Boris Johnson at opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer regarding the case of paedophile celebrity Jimmy Saville. Mirza stated in her resignation that "There was no fair or reasonable basis for that assertion. • Mirza worked with Johnson during his time as mayor of London and is viewed as a prime influencer on his policy stances and a close political ally.
  • Her departure from No.10 leaves Johnson with even fewer allies and potentially short of policy proposals at a crucial time in his tenure as prime minister.
