March Retail Sales, AMLO Stokes Supreme Court Conflict

  • Retail sales are expected to have increased 2.8% y/y in March, down from a 3.4% rise the month prior, according to economist estimates compiled by Bloomberg. The data may be buoyed by household incomes and consumption benefitting from increasing employment, salaries and remittances. Consumer sentiment is also a positive. National statistics agency releases the data at 1300BST/0800ET:
    • March Retail Sales M/m, est. 0.1%, prior -0.3%
    • March Retail Sales Y/y, est. 2.8%, prior 3.4%
  • President AMLO issued a decree Thursday designating some of his flagship public works of national security and public interest, escalating a conflict with the country’s Supreme Court. (BBG)
